Since blogging is supposed to be all about self-expression, I suppose I should begin this thing with a little bit of personal information. For starters, my story is nothing special. I’m a pretty average guy. I am married to a wonderful woman named Sarah whom I met in college. We have three adorable kids, one boy (Joshua) and two girls (Hope & Allison). They are a new adventure every day.
I am a Christian, and I meet with a small group of believers in the town in which I live, which also happens to be somewhat small. We desire to stand as one with all believers, regardless of practice, opinion, or doctrine, therefore we take no name but that of the church in our city. Beyond this, we are a rough sketch version of what some people might call an “organic” church, though personally I prefer to stay away from labels, even the best ones. You can find some info about us here.
I grew up attending churches of various denominational stripes, but it wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I truly began to follow Jesus Christ. That was ten years ago. Since then the Lord has proven Himself to be land of many hills and valleys, and the journey has been both mundane and exciting. But I can say with all honesty that I am captured forever. Christ is my life and my pursuit. I hope this blog will be an encouragement to those who are seeking to know Him in His fullness, as well as a means of connecting with other believers in my area who are seeking a simpler, freer expression of church life, one that is born out of and sustained by a living revelation of Jesus. If that is you, by all means give us a call.
On a lighter note, I’m 6’3 and about 200 lbs. I’m a very plain eater, much to the dismay of my wife who would like to cook a greater variety of food. Once upon a time I was a halfway decent basketball player, and I enjoy writing and reading. On occasion I will pull out the guitar and strum a few songs, though those moments are few and far between with two little ones running around the house. I’ve worked in retail a large part of my adult life despite the fact that I’m a horrible salesman, and as far as I know I still hold the record for most hard-boiled eggs eaten during a single breakfast at Mt. Zion School of Ministry.

And “once upon a time” I believe our class (07) beat yours a few times in basketball, of course you were well under 200 then

I’m still waiting for a rematch, personally.

You were a better than average ball-player my friend.

Why thank you! Of course, my own skills were greatly enhanced by those of my roommate.

200 really? To comment on Lucas (07), we bet you a number of games as well.

Hi Josh. The things you are writing about are very exciting to me. Christ, by his Spirit, has been speaking to me about the same things. What adds to this is that you are in the context of being able to live it out. I would love to get in touch with you, but cannot find an email address. Is there a way to make contact?

Hello Josh, I’m a new subscriber. Great to meet you. It’s kind of special to find a likeminded brother on the web.
Ohio might be a long way from here, but I look forward to hear more of you.
Cheers from Spain!

Hey Roger. Great to connect with you on here. If I’m ever in Spain I’ll look you up.
